Music and Video

"High on the mountain" is an album I recorded with the great UK pianist Robin Joiner back in 2012, just before I left the UK. It features nine pieces written by robin and myself, we premiered this original music at the 2012 manchester international jazz festival.

below is a selection of videos from my YouTube channel, many of these have been produced recently as a creative outlet during the covid 19 pandemic, which has put a stop to live music for much of 2020. Be sure to visit my youtube channel here and hit subscribe.

here are some of my own recordings of my original music in various settings, explore more on my soundcloudpage.

14/8/2021 New band "Tarboosh" Have their debut performance

I'm excited about a new project I've been working on for the past few months, a new band called "Tarboosh" The following is from our press release...

"Tarboosh are a 4 piece band formed in Hong Kong in the Summer of 2021, they boast an unusual line-up consisting of piano, and woodwinds, with two of the members playing on handpans and various types of drums and percussion. Each musician hails from a different country, and in turn each brings their own unique musical influences to the sound of the quartet, playing all original music composed by the four members. The music of Tarboosh is able to effortlessly blend composed passages with improvisation, leaving listeners wondering where the written music ends and the improvisation starts. The diverse influences that can be heard within the music span many genres including film scores, modern classical, minimalism, jazz, folk and world music. The result is an atmospheric blend that sounds both unique and familiar at the same time. One minute the music can bring to mind cinema-graphic scenes from a half-forgotten dream, the next conjuring up images of vast landscapes from foreign lands or echoes of once heard folk songs from the distant past."

Tarboosh are:

Bruce Hunnisett – Sax and clarinet
Samer Shenouda – Piano
Sasha Frolov – Handpan and drums
Maggie Tan – Handpan and drums.
